The overwhelming majority of Viet people defeated the French in 1954, but US leaders then brought a 1954–75 war, trying to resume "Colonial Relationships.” The author interviewed eight participants in the resistance, including a national heroine at age 14 against the French. She and others explain why even children decided to defend their nation. Pending publication in Summer 2025, a second book in this series connects foreign policy today with the early period of the US in Viet Nam that was enabled by violence. Violating US democracy, leaders did not tell voters of the US actions during the colonial period. That tricked voters. Many fought in Viet Nam and died, not knowing that the US was invading Viet Nam. After failing, US leaders similarly mishandled other nations, discarding fair trade by diplomacy in favor of resource control by force: coups, wars, destabilizations, and election interferences.
